A Report from Our Eleventh Bingo Event

We had our eleventh Bingo afternoon Sunday on September 14, 2008! This was our 1 YEAR ANIVERSARY Bingo Sunday. This marked 1 year of IOOF Charity Bingo in the City of Davis. There was free cake at this event, made by Candice Richardson with a choice of vanilla, chocolate chunck and lemon shortbread made from Mrs. Obama's recipe. We had 56 people playing bingo, which is not our lowest turnout and we made serveral hundred dollars that will go to Yolo County charity events and organizations. Once again, this was a very successful Bingo Event. We handed out 28 prizes with 8 raffle prizes and 16 bingo games. There was 1 split bingo pot and one bingo pot that was split 4 ways for 4 winners! This is a record for a split pot, the previous record was a 3 way split pot. There was one double bingo winner. Do not forget about our pull tabs, for there were many $1 winners, 6 winners of $15 and 1 winner of $50. The $100 pull tabs have yet to be found! Just to let you know, there were 12 IOOF members that volunteered at this event.

A Report from Our Tenth Bingo Event

We had our tenth Bingo afternoon Sunday on August 10, 2008! We had our largest turnout to date from the public with 73 people playing bingo. This was probably due to the lodge sponsoring the Davis High Blue Devils Football Boosters. A part of the proceeds went to the Blue Devils Football Team. We had volunteers and people who played Bingo from this Davis parents group. We still handed out a lot of prizes!!! We handed out a total of 30 prizes on this afternoon. There were SIX (6) split pots and a new game called criss-cross for a total of 16 bingo games. The split pots were from complicated bingo patterns, where most of the balls were called and pulled before a couple of winners could call bingo. We handed out 6 raffle prizes which were Baskets and Packages of various wonderful and useful items from the Blue Davis High Boosters. There were people that won multiple prizes (2 bingo pots or a bingo pot and a raffle prize). There were 14 cash winners and three people won part of the $250 cash grand prize. There was a total of 10 Odd Fellows helping with this day's bingo with another 4 playing in the audience, who helped with set-up and takedown. There were numerous volunteers from the public that helped with set-up and takedown. This was a very successful Bingo Event.

A Report from Our Seventh Bingo Event

We had our seventh Bingo afternoon Sunday on March 9, 2008! We had a low turnout from the public with 60 people playing bingo. This was probably due to the change from daylight savings time and the clocks "springing forward." What this did, was cause more people to win more than one prize. We handed out a total of 33 prizes on this afternoon. There were SEVEN (7) split pots and a new game in addition to "Stinger" for a total of 18 bingo games. The split pots were from complicated bingo patterns made for Easter where most of the balls were called and pulled before a couple of winners could call bingo. We handed out 8 raffle prizes which were 5 Easter Baskets and 3 St Patrick Gift Pots of various wonderful and useful items. There were 6 people that won multiple prizes (2 bingo pots or a bingo pot and a raffle prize) and one person that won three bingo prizes. So luck seemed to really stick with certain people on this day of low turnout. There was a total of 8 Odd Fellows helping with this day's bingo with 6 playing in the audience and 2 additional volunteers helping with set-up and takedown for a total of 16 IOOF volunteers.

A Report from Our Sixth Bingo Event

We had our sixth Bingo afternoon Sunday on February 10, 2008! We had a new record turnout from the public with 71 people playing bingo. We handed out 29 prizes on this afternoon. There were two split pots and a new game called "Stinger" for a total of 17 bingo games. We had one, $77 pull tab winner in the audience, who also won two bingo pots. There were another 3 people that won multiple prizes (2 bingo pots or a bingo pot and a raffle prize), so luck seemed to stick with certain people. There was a total of 12 Odd Fellows helping with this day's bingo with an additional 9 playing in the audience and helping with set-up and takedown for a total of 21 IOOF volunteers.

A Report from Our Fifth Bingo Event

We had our Fifth Bingo afternoon Sunday on January 13, 2008! We had an exceptional turnout from the public with 62 people playing bingo. We handed out 22 prizes on this afternoon. More than likely, because of the large number of bingo players, there were no split pots nor people that won more than one prize. We had one, $100 pull tab winner in the audience, who was camera shy. Luck this new year seems to be evenly distributed! There was a total of 12 Odd Fellows helping with this day's bingo with an additional 6 playing in the audience and helping with set-up and takedown for a total of 18. Hopefully, this will develop into a trend as more and more of the public becomes involved with IOOF Bingo in Davis.

A Report from Our Fourth Bingo Event

We had our Fourth Bingo afternoon Sunday on December 9, 2007! We once again had a nice turnout from the public with once again 55 people playing bingo. We handed out 27 prizes on this afternoon with 2 split pots, one triple split pot, and raffle door prizes awarded. Luck continues to flow with individuals that come to these events, with 3 people, each winning 2 prizes during the day. The person that won the 4 prizes in one day's party won one of the three $50 pull taps that were paid out at this event. The winner of this day's $250 pot was the winner of our very first, ever, bingo game. (See photos below). You have to play to win. Among the distinguished players at this event was the City of Davis Mayor, Sue Greenwald. We had 18 IOOF members at the lodge that were present through out the afternoon. There was another 3 members that helped with set-up and takedown for a total of 21 Odd Fellows helping with this day's bingo.

A Report from Our Third Bingo Event

We had our third Bingo afternoon Sunday on November 11, 2007! We once again had a nice turnout from the public with 55 people playing bingo.. We handed out 29 prizes on this afternoon with 3 split pots and raffle door prizes awarded. Luck continues to flow with individuals that come to these events, with 2 people, each winning 2 prizes during the day and one big winner, who went away with 4 prizes! So, when a person is a lucky winner, some people continue to be really, really lucky!

A Report from Our Second Bingo Event

We had our second Bingo afternoon last Sunday on October 14, 2007 and it went pretty well! I wish to thank Mike Jansen who organized the festivities, as well as Barbara and John Geisler, Dave Reed and Sheryl Camron, Joyce Puntillo, Frank Guistino, Sharla Cheney, Glenn Mounkes, and Joe Patti. Also, Ted Puntillo helped set up and Sherrie Richter Puntillo helped enormously at the event. Candice and Christopher helped set up, as did Bob Bockwinkel and Lea Rosenberg and then stayed to play Bingo. Eleanor Lake worked the "snack bar". Our potential new members Ann and Tim Carroll and Julie and Jamus MacGuire were there to play Bingo as well. [There were 20 affilliates of Yolo Lodge 169 at this event! Ry] A big THANK YOU to Mike Jansen and all the members and future members of our Lodge who came out to help or simply to play Bingo and socialize at the Lodge Hall.

We had a nice turnout from the public what with the time change. Our next Bingo afternoon is Sunday, November 11, starting at 1 p.m. Please come out and please spread the word. We have had about 60 players each time, and our Hall can accommodate over 100 so there is room to grow. [We once again handed out over 30 prizes on this afternoon with split pots and raffle door prizes awarded. Luck continues to flow with individuals that come to these events, with 2 people, each winning 3 prizes during the day. So, when a person is a lucky winner, some people really are lucky! Ry]

I wish to encourage more of our IOOF members to come out to either help with Bingo or just come out to play Bingo and have a good time. With an organization as large as ours (we have 79 members and 5 folks awaiting initiation) it would be nice to see more members come out to help set up or run the games, or just play Bingo. Remember, all proceeds go to charitable works in the community.

There were a number of multiple winners on this first day of bingo. We had 34 raffle and cash prize winners. There were two bingo games where there were 3 winners and the cash prize was split 3 ways and several other games where there were 2 winners and the pot was split two ways.
