Japan 2010
Date: October 27 to November 10 $5949.00 per person.
A custom journey through major sites and roads less traveled has been designed by Woodland Travel who have prepared tours for loyal CWC tour goers since 1994. All CWC tours combine must-see attractions with off the beaten track experiences.
Highlights of this tour include:
- Tokyo - home to the Ginza, Sensiji Temple, and Edo- Tokyo Museum with outstanding displays of Tokyo's past. If available, we will visit a Sumo wrestling school. On your free day, you may choose to visit Tsukijii , the world's largest fish market, attend a Kabuki play, or shop in a Japanese Department store.
- Nikko - This 17th century UNESCO World Heritage site is JapanŐs Versailles. Tokugawa Ieyasu, the powerful shogun who unified Japan is buried in a mausoleum surrounded by Nikko National park and 200,000 acres of majestic cedar trees.
- Takayama - the Japanese Alps, and the village of rural Shirakwago. Because of its mountainous isolation, Takayama is well preserved with beautifully crafted wooden homes and canals. You will experience its indigenous architecture, food, and local crafts.
- Matsumoto Castle & Kanazawa - The castle is one of the 3 major Japanese Castles of Japan. On the Sea of Japan, Kanazawa escaped WW11 bombing. The old city with its district of samurai mansions is intact.
- Kyoto - Home to 17 UNESCO World Heritage sites with temples, shrines, gardens, and imperial palaces. 20% of Japan's Living Treasure Artists live in Kyoto. You will visit some of the most significant sites and Gion, Kyoto's famous geisha district. There will be an optional day tour to Nara for those who wish to see the first capitol of Japan.
- Onsen (hot spring baths) - You will be able to take a natural hot spring bath for a bit of respite. Japan, situated on a chain of volcanoes, boasts more hot spring baths than any nation.
The tour cost of $5,949 includes air fare, first class hotels, a daily breakfast, most meals, all excursions and sightseeing fees listed in the itinerary, and the $200 tax deductible donation to Citizens Who Care. The excursion to Nara is not included.
