Excellent Community Services
The primary role of the City Council is to assure that our basic city services are operating effectively and efficiently. Over the past four years we have devoted significant energy to making sure our city works and I am heartened by the strong satisfaction levels shown in our recent survey of Davis residents. (http://www.city.davis.ca.us/story/pdfs/Davis2007_SatisfactionRpt_20070905.pdf).
Over the next four years, we will face the ongoing challenge of financial constraints and key decisions to sustain reliable, effective, EXCELLENT community services.
Over the next four years, I will work to:
- Secure a reliable, high quality water supply for the future.
- Upgrade our waste water treatment facility to meet state and federal standards.
- Support our police and fire services with appropriate equipment, training and staffing so we can count on the safety Davis residents expect and deserve.
- Allocate funds to repair and maintain our streets.
- Improve transit services working with UNITRANS on the use of smaller buses on more frequent schedules to more routes.
- Improve our bike network and fixing trouble spots in the interactions between automobiles and bikes and walkers.
- Update the parks master plan and identifying fund sources to enhance sports and pool facilities.
- Find ways to support Davis schools at this challenging time, through shared service agreements, development of new revenue sources, and support for real estate planning.
